Strengthening Community Through Local Support
The AbbyBank Foundation, Inc. recently awarded a total of $9,150 to four organizations serving the Wausau and Weston communities. These grants support youth development, education, community arts, and local service initiatives.
Funding was awarded to:
- Everest Area Optimists Club – $2,500 to purchase two new deep fryers and replace an aging commercial refrigerator, ensuring reliable kitchen equipment for their fundraising efforts that support youth scholarships and community programs.
- Performing Arts Foundation – $5,000 to support renovation efforts at the historic Grand Theater as it celebrates 100 years, preserving this community landmark and enhancing its role as a regional hub for arts and culture.
- Samoset Council, Boy Scouts of America – $1,000 for new kayaks and life jackets to support outdoor education and leadership development through the popular Kayaking Merit Badge program.
- St. Peter Lutheran School – $650 to purchase an audiobook player, audiobooks, and shelving to enhance early literacy and foster a love of reading among students.
“Supporting organizations that strengthen education, character development, and community connection is core to our mission,” said Heather Schulz, AVP/Branch Manager at AbbyBank’s Weston location. “We are proud to partner with groups that are making a positive impact in the Wausau and Weston areas.”
The AbbyBank Foundation was formed in 1986 as a private charitable foundation of AbbyBank, which has contributed over $1,826,300 to the foundation. Since 1986, the foundation has made donations to Abbotsford, Appleton, Gresham, Medford, Shawano, Wausau, Weston, and neighboring area organizations totaling over $1,413,830.91.
